Lynden March for Black Lives

7/5/2020

On July 5th, 2020, the Young Advocates of Whatcom County held and organized our first march - the Lynden March for Black Lives. This march was held to promote education and awareness of people of color's experiences and how as a community we can better ourselves in the future. It was a show of solidarity with people of color, and to raise awareness for racial inequality and stand for social justice. We had many fantastic speakers, including Amsa Burke, Kate Lohrer, Isaiah Baseden, Kobe Baseden, Marco Gutierrez, Estela Cruz, Cora Lange, and Daniela Gutierrez. This was a successful, peaceful march that spanned almost 3 miles with a stop at the Lynden City Hall and Lynden Police Department. Thank you to everyone who supported and thank you to everyone who spoke and used their voices for the movement.
